There are three things to
think about for the perfect chip shot.
Chipping has been described as putting with a descending blow. Learning the right mechanics for putting will help you become a good chipper. First, learn a pre-shot routine . This means you always go through the following routine prior to each chip. 1) Target assessment, know how to line up with your target, 2) club selection, learn what the best club to use for distance, 3) review your set-up skills: grip, posture/stance, ball position, and alignment 4) take a practice swing to develop tempo and 5) relax and focus on the target. Second, learn the correct swing mechanics for chipping which include using a pendulum swing, pre-setting your hands so they are ahead of the ball, keep wrists quiet through swing, hit down into the ball and keep head and body still through swing. Third, knowing the right swing mechanics is only half the deal. To seal the deal you have to create muscle memory of the mechanics. This means practicing the same mechanics so you can reproduce the shot from body memory. You can learn all the right swing mechanics for all of the four shots of golf from our eBook Blueprint For Golf. It includes over 100 instructional photos and how to create muscle memory so your lower golf scores will last. Click on Blueprint For Golf to begin your journey to better golf. |
